Mwen Bouke: The Story Behind the Song
ALBUMS AND SINGLES

Mwen Bouke is an idea I had back in December 2022 for the Vilamar Records platform. I initially wanted to have someone else sing it. I felt that a female voice would suit the song better, and I planned to include a rapper as a featured artist alongside her.
I didn’t write this song for myself. In May 2023, I created the beat and recorded a demo, which was performed at a much higher pitch than the official version because the demo was intended for a female vocalist.
I later realized how difficult it was for others to sing my songs exactly the way I wanted them to, and I decided to keep the project for myself. I lowered the key of the song to match my vocal range.
Although the song didn’t turn out exactly as I originally envisioned, since I wanted the key to remain higher, but I chose not to hand it over to someone else. It’s often hard for others to capture all the intricate details and style that I bring to my songs.
I included Wisman as a featured artist, an old friend, former classmate, and a rapper from my hometown.
Based on feedback from those I shared the song with before its release, everyone praised Wisman and felt he was a great fit for the project.
I added violin and saxophone at the last minute, though I felt the violin became a bit excessive since the song already had so many instruments. I ultimately lowered the volume of the violin to blend it more subtly into the track.
Mwen Bouke is one of my most beautiful projects, a song that expresses my frustrations. I released it as a single on November 18, 2024, five months before the EP.
