Character summary

Book 1
Sanctuary: The Governor's Daughter

Elise pretends to be Hannah Maximus's supportive best friend while anonymously running TV-Well, a vicious hate page dedicated to spreading toxic rumors and tearing down the Maximus family.

She consistently exhibits highly flirtatious and boundary-pushing behavior toward Hannah's bodyguard, Danny, deliberately walking in on him while he is naked in his bathroom and openly making inappropriate comments to her friends.

Suspicious of their hidden intimacy, Elise sets a calculated trap by borrowing Danny's phone under the guise of an emergency. She secretly texts Hannah to get a confession of their love, takes screenshots of the replies, and sends the evidence to herself for blackmail.

She lures Danny to her bedroom and attempts to sexually coerce him in exchange for keeping the secret. When Danny refuses, pulls up his pants, and walks out, Elise flies into a venomous rage and threatens to completely destroy his life.

When Hannah confronts her about the blackmail and coercion, a violent physical fight breaks out. Elise grabs a heavy decorative object from a table and strikes Hannah square in the head, severely cracking her skull.

Terrified of Governor Maximus's lethal wrath, Elise goes on the offensive. She posts a deceptive, viral video using CCTV footage of Danny at her house, flawlessly manipulating the public into believing she was the heartbroken victim of a secret affair stolen by Hannah.

Book 2
Sanctuary: The Secret

Four years later, Elise has transformed TV-Well into a massive, polished media empire. She operates as a fake patriot, launching vicious political broadcasts to endorse Samuel Grant and attack the Maximus administration.

She receives a tip from a former tenant named Elias about Danny's hidden past and pays him ten thousand dollars in cash for the names of Mark and Sophie Rivil.

Elise stalks Sophie's house and manipulates the terrified, abused woman into agreeing to a DNA test for her daughter, Lynn. Elise promises to pay for a secure apartment and a top-tier divorce attorney out of her own pocket to help Sophie escape her violent husband.

She traps Danny by calling his highly classified phone live on the air during her broadcast to millions of viewers, publicly forcing the Director of Intelligence to take the DNA test.

During the test at the TV-Well studio VIP lounge, Elise taunts both Hannah and Danny. When the DNA results confirm Danny is the biological father, she smugly declares the case solved.

Following the test, Elise maliciously broadcasts the entire scandal. In her arrogant rush to brag about her wealth, she flashes the unblurred wire transfer receipt for Sophie's new apartment on the screen, completely exposing the exact address and unit number to the public.

Because of her reckless broadcast, Mark Rivil easily tracks down the secure location and brutally murders Sophie. Terrified of the real-world blood on her hands and the horrifying consequences of the murder, Elise completely shuts down TV-Well and goes into an indefinite hiatus, fading into the shadows of the city.

Book 4
Sanctuary: Legacy

Elise eventually returns from her hiatus during the vicious gubernatorial election to operate as the ruthless political attack dog for opposition candidate Samuel Grant.

She uses her massive platform to aggressively attack Governor Maximus's rally in Exaria, viciously mocking Hannah, Millie, and Michellier by claiming they look like cheap plastic and insulting Michellier's vocal talents.

Riverwell Intelligence discovers that Elise is secretly being funded by Grant's campaign manager, Joan Molett. Joan launders millions of dollars through fake ghost companies to pay Elise for spreading nationalist propaganda in the disguise of corporate sponsorships.

When Spencer's posthumous documentary exposes Grant's corruption, a panicked Grant warns Elise that Governor Maximus will arrest her if he wins the election. Driven by absolute terror, Elise launches a frantic live broadcast, viciously attacking the documentary as a fabricated lie to protect her own freedom.

Her reign of digital terror finally ends during the violent insurrection incited by Grant. Heavily armed tactical agents from Riverwell Intelligence violently kick down her studio doors and rip her out of her plush executive chair, arresting her live on the air.

In the aftermath of the failed insurrection, Elise is visited in custody by her father, who quietly reminds her that he had warned her a long time ago to return to church and stop her pop culture and political pursuits.

Because she had only incited the violence from the safety of her studio and was not physically present in the rioting crowd, Elise avoids a permanent life sentence without parole. Instead, she faces a minimum of ten years to life in prison, leaving her with a desperate sliver of hope that her lawyers could eventually file an appeal—a stark contrast to the absolute doom facing Grant and Molett.
